Sophia Rickson

Sophia comes to us from the Carnival industry. She is an award winning “Mas” designer and transitioned into film through CAFTCADEMY 101... Now as an Executive Board Member and the current Secretary of the Board, she hopes to encourage and help other Carnival Designers, as well as other BIPOC artists from all other niche industries, find their footing in the TV/Film industry.

She’s written an article in the last Bespoke Magazine targeted to BIPOC individuals, and has been the sponsorship rep for Bespoke on previous publishings.  

She has been the Volunteer Coordinator at the CAFTCAD Awards since its inception and for other events such as the TIFF event at the Distillery and at Yorkville Mall. 

She’s also been nominated for a CAFTCAD Award- Design in a Short Film. 

She has volunteered at countless CAFTCAD events including exhibits, projects, the Movie Wardrobe Sale and is currently a member on the Diversity Committee, Education Committee, Virtual Exhibit Committee and lends herself to any initiative the Board puts forward. 

As the current Secretary, she hopes to go into the new term creating further change and helping to organize and streamline all the ideas and projects brought forward by the Board.
