This course will assist costumers in distinguishing officer's uniforms from those of enlisted ranks and combat uniforms from "walking out" or formal dress. We will look at ranks and insignia and what is appropriate for whom.
We will go into each historical period of Modern Era military uniforms and insignia, discussing what was worn during each war. This component of the course will be divided into two parts: In part one, we will look at the Revolutionary War, Civil War, Boer War and World War I. In part two, we will cover World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf War and present-day uniforms.
Finally, we will discuss leggings and gaiters, as well as belts and headwear, including helmets, caps, hats and other headgear -- and how to wear them. At the end of this course, costumers will have a better understanding of how the military uniform works and how and where it is worn.
