Research, Design, and Production for the Costume Department

If you have dreamed of turning your passion in fashion and historical costuming into a career as a costume professional or a director in film & TV , this is the program for you! This three hour workshop will help you become prepared to step into a role in the industry. This workshop is a fascinating and highly creative project-based learning led by our professional instructors and industry experts in the performing arts sector.

This course covers:

  • A mini introduction to Theatrix Costume House including rentals, shows, wardrobe, wig, and makeup department, how to identify fashion trends,

  • Introduction to basic colour theory, historical & social relevance of colour, and developing a colour palette.

  • Introduction to considerations of fabric in garments and how to source fabric.

  • How to work within a fixed budget.

  • How to alter, steam and prepare your wardrobe selection for your upcoming film shoot

All course participants also receive a complimentary in-person tour of Theatrix Costume House (for participants to do on their own time) and a 20% discount on all rentals with no expiration date!
